Milan, Ohio's specialty coffee house
Every cup here starts just a few miles south, inside the Stewart Block, where Firelands Coffee Co. roasts in small batches on electric equipment, nearly 90% more sustainable than traditional roasting, and packs it all in 100% compostable bags.
Our small batch process means the beans in your cup were roasted days ago, not months. It's the same coffee on our shelves in Norwalk, the same coffee we ship, and the same coffee in the cup you're carrying out the door.
Our Milan location has a quaint indoor seating space and a drive-thru window for the mornings you just don't have time to get out and visit with us. Order ahead on your phone and it's waiting when you pull up.
Roasted in Norwalk. Poured in Milan.
On the square, in the town that dug a canal to Lake Erie and raised Thomas Edison, Milan Coffee House pours its very own ethically sourced and sustainably roasted and packaged coffee blends.
In 1827, Seth Jennings opened the Old Eagle Tavern on the Milan square. Within a year the town had started calling it The Milan Coffee House, and when the Milan Canal opened on the Fourth of July, 1839, this is right where everyone went to celebrate. Thirteen toasts were raised that night, one for each of the original colonies.
The building was remodeled in 1870, renamed the Brotherton Exchange, and lost to fire on August 1, 1873. The square carried on without it.
It's back and only about 100 feet from where it started.
